Itinerary

  1. ASTONISHING OF ANGKOR WAT: Every visitor walking through the Angkor Wat Temple complex will be astonished by its vastness (covering an area of 400 acres). Because of its complexity and symmetry, visitor’s attention may be either attracted or distracted. Looking from a distance, this grand temple appears to be a colossal mass with series of elevated towers, chambers, courtyards and enclosure walls at different levels. The central tower (213-foot-tall). Angkor Wat was originally built for Hindu God SRI VISHNU, whose monolithic sculpture measuring 10.8 feet tall is depicted with eight arms. Some of the pillars in the courtyard have inscriptions in Sanskrit and Khmer language. Here is a collection of reliefs of Vishnu, Hindu puranic events, Dancing Apsaras and motifs inside the courtyards. The largest religious construction in the world is surrounded by a rectangular moat which measures 1.5km by length and 1.3km by width.

  2. FASCINATING FACES: Bayon Temple was constructed in the heart of ‘Angkor Thom’ intended to represent ‘Mount Meru’, the center of the universe in Hindu and Buddhist beliefs. The name “Bayon” was a French transcription by European explorers in 19th-Century. Scholars associate the figure with 4 faces with the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who appears with multiple faces, an important deity in Mahayana Buddhism. However, the faces have also been associated with the multi-faced, Hindu God, 'Brahma', who is the Creator of the Universe.

  3. Ta Phrom called different name by different people, some called Jungle temple, Some called tomb raider due to the movie film here. However the temple itself looks so unreal because the overgrown trees and falling stone structure.

About Siem Reap

Siem Reap is the riverside town beside Angkor, Cambodia's vast complex of Khmer temples, with night markets, river walks and a relaxed centre.

Angkor Wat, often called the largest religious monument in the world, rises above its moat in a silhouette of lotus-bud towers that is breathtaking at sunrise. Nearby, the walled city of Angkor Thom holds the Bayon, with its more than two hundred serene stone faces, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Baphuon, while Ta Prohm is gripped by the roots of giant silk-cotton and strangler fig trees.

Top-ranked sights in Siem Reap: Angkor Thom, Tonlé Sap, Kampong Phluk.
