Around half day departure h: 7.30am / return 1.30pm approx. Tour aimed at discovering the most important city of the Dhofar Governorate, land of legends that make you dream. Accompanied by an English speaking guide we will have the opportunity to enter and visit the Great Mosque with its minarets as well as an external view of the Sultan's palace. You will visit the Balid Museum where the history of the Sultanate of Oman, a museum next to a lagoon where you can admire cranes and herons, is told through plastic models and evocative images. It is said that the Queen of Sheba stayed here. You will then cross the plantations of coconuts, bananas, papaya and tamarind. There will be several shopping stops at bazaars, gold and silver markets and small traditional souks. Salalah is the main city of Dhofar, in the far south of Oman, on a coastal plain between the Arabian Sea and a wall of hills. Coconut and banana plantations line the roads, an unusual sight on the Arabian Peninsula. The city was the birthplace of the late Sultan Qaboos, and a mosque bearing his name stands in the town. The Al Hafa souq sells frankincense and incense burners.
