  • 2Rila National Park

It is a beautiful national park half a day does not work.. take hiking gear if you want to scale all the peaks and lakes.. It is cold.. on top. as far as tour guide, my understanding was that it was going to be a small group.. it was bus full of people..

  • 5brilliant communication and organisation from peter the guide

The experience was fantastic from start to finish.. peter was extremely well organised and communicated the timings/group instructions very clearly. The 7 lakes were amazing and so was Rila monestary.

  • 5Great Trip

The arrangement is great. We visited at shoulder season, no need to queue for chairlift. We had plenty of time for walking. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and cold, weather never predictable. The monastery was also very quiet, still enough daylight for photo. It is a great trip.

About Sofia

Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, lies below Vitosha mountain, mixing Roman ruins, golden-domed churches, mineral springs and a busy café culture.

Sofia sits in a high basin at the foot of Mount Vitosha, and its centre layers Roman Serdica, Orthodox Bulgaria and the Ottoman and Soviet eras. The gold-domed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, completed in the early twentieth century, is the city's best-known building. Close by are the fourth-century rotunda of St George, the Banya Bashi Mosque and the remains of Roman streets that show through glass in the metro stations.

Top-ranked sights in Sofia: Rila Monastery, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Ivan Vazov National Theatre.
