Itinerary
Just 30 minutes away from Podgorica there is a spectacular canyon of Moraca river, about 30 km long and up to 1000 m deep, famous for its steep cliffs. Our stop will be in the middle of the canyon with a view on clear and green Moraca river, and cliffs. Moraca river is one of not many remaining wild rivers in Europe, long about 113 km with the spring under the high peaks of Moracke mountains, with clear and always cold water.
One of the most significant Montenegrin monasteries is located just next to the Moraca river, and contains some of the most beautiful icons and frescoes not just in Montenegro but in the Balkans. There is a great history behind this 8 centuries old religious place and it is one of the most visited monasteries in Montenegro.
Some 90 km away from Podgorica, the national park Biogradaska Gora will welcome us with its primeval forest, one of the 3 remaining in Europe. In the heart of the park there is a beautiful Biogradsko Lake with nice and mild for walking 3.3 km long path around the lake. It is a real chance to feel the harmony with nature, to breathe deeply and enjoy tranquility in the shade of up to 60 m tall and 400-500 years old trees.
The route takes us further through the long and deep canyon of Tara river, with many nice views on different shades of green colored Tara River, whose nickname is tear of the Europe. We will not miss the chance to touch its green and cold water. Black pine guardians of the canyon will impress us with its tallness, while famous Tara ridge 160 m high will amaze us with its graciousness. For all the adventure lovers it is the chance to try one of the longest zip lines in Europe.
Black Lake is the largest of 18 glacial lakes of Durmitor mountain massif, so called mountain eyes. It is the last pearl in the necklace of this tour and maybe a perfect moment for you to have a seat on one of many benches around the lake and, surrounded with dense coniferous forest, to sum up all the nice and inspiring memories of this day. The lake lies at the altitude of 1500 m above sea level and actually consists of two lakes that in dry season are separated and in rest of the year connected. Swimming in the lake is possible but it is on your own responsibility.

5Outstanding day out in Montenegro's national parks
We had a wonderful private tour into the national parks, Moraca canyon and monastery. Nino was an exceptionally safe driver and very knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour. It was a perfect blend of history, walking, sightseeing and learning about the culture. I can thoroughly recommend booking. Thanks again Nino for a top day out.

5An unforgettable tour with Nino!
Nothing can be better than travelling along with such an amazing person like Nino. He planned such an incredible tour while also keeping us engaged with the history of the national parks and the many plant and animal species. We got to experience some insane views across the Tara Canyon, Biogradska Gora, and Durmitor National Park. Nino was so kind that we could have a small picnic amidst the lush green forest in Biogradska Gora. Loved every bit of this trip - and it would have been definitely incomplete if not for Nino's insights and flexibility :) This tour will surely surprise anyone with all the hidden gems that Northern part of Montenegro has to offer. 10/10 recommend this tour. Ofcourse, Nino is possibly the best guide and travel buddy to explore these treasures with and certainly has our highest recommendation!
5Don’t miss this.
Excellent tour seeing, smelling, experiencing the beauty of Montenegrin parks and gorges. Nino our guide was excellent, patient, knowledgeable and a careful driver. I’m a nature lover so it was perfect for me. Though my husband isn’t as crazy about nature, he too enjoyed the tour.
5A stunning day in the mountains of Montenegro
The mountains of Montenegro are stunning. Our tour guide, Nino, was excellent. He made the day fun. He shared a lot of knowledge about the history of the sites we visited. He was very flexible with the schedule allowing us to decide how much time we wanted to spend at each stop. I would definitely recommend this tour!

About Podgorica
Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro, a compact city of bridges, rivers and Ottoman quarters, close to Lake Skadar and the mountains.
Podgorica stands on a plain where the Morača and Ribnica rivers meet, ringed by mountains, and it is the political and commercial capital of Montenegro. Much of the city was rebuilt after the Second World War, and it was called Titograd from 1946 to 1992. The old Ottoman quarter, Stara Varoš, keeps a clock tower and a small mosque, the Millennium Bridge crosses the Morača, and the large Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ is one of the city's best-known buildings.
