Itinerary
We visit Sibelius Monument in Sibelius Park, a lovely seaside place with a history of around a century. Both received their name to honor the famous Finish composer Jean Sibelius. Sibelius Monument has been sculpted out of more than 600 hollow steel pipes by Eila Hiltunen. From Sibelius Monument we take a short walk to Cafe Regatta, a lovely seaside café, where you can enjoy the beautiful view onto the Sea and the rowing stadium.
Visit of Hietaranta beach, the most iconic beach spot known from countless Finnish movies and tv series. In the beginning of the 20th century the remote area of Hietaniemi was being used as a landfill and was converted into an area for sand storage. In 1929, the locals adopted the area as a sand beach. Being close to the city centre, the beach is nowadays a popular summer destination for locals and tourists. It is also a popular place for outdoor training and beach volleyball. We take a walk around the beach and continue the tour afterwards.
We drive along Eira beach towards Kaivopuisto and stop at the Sea to take some pictures. Eira neighbourhood has some of the most expensive and sought-after old apartments in Helsinki, built in jugend style. Many foreign embassies and high-class restaurants are situated in Eira and the neighbouring district of Kaivopuisto.
The white church is the most iconic building in Helsinki. We enjoy the view from the plateau and take pictures from different angles overviewing the harbour. We take a walk down to the Market Square and enjoy the views of harbour, Sea, Presidential Palace and Esplanadi.
We stop at Uspenski-Cathedral, the largest Greek Orthodox church in Western Europe. The cathedral is set upon a hillside on the Katajanokka peninsula overlooking the city. It offers amazing views onto the city and the Sea. We take a walk around the hill and continue from there.
Stop at Linnanmäki amusement park, quick tour through the park and views towards the city centre. The amusement park has free entry and it's possible to visit it without any admission fee. If you fancy a ride on a rollercoaster, any of the theme rides or a game at the game stands, you would have to buy a ticket for that specific ride or stand.
We visit the Olympic Park next to the Olympic Stadium (no visit of the statium itself). We walk to the City Garden, a lush plant oasis consisting of Winter Garden, Rose Garden in front of it and the plant production area behind the Winter Garden. The City Garden offers nice views onto Töölönlahti.
Through Töölö district we drive past the Finnish National Opera towards Finlandia hall and National museum.

About Helsinki
Helsinki is Finland's capital on the Baltic, a compact seaside city of neoclassical squares, Art Nouveau streets, design shops and saunas.
The white neoclassical Helsinki Cathedral looks down on Senate Square, and the red-brick Uspenski Cathedral stands on a rocky headland to the east. Carl Ludvig Engel planned the city centre in the early nineteenth century after Finland passed to Russia, and Art Nouveau houses line the streets of Katajanokka and Eira. The Market Square on the harbour front has stalls of fish, berries and crafts, with the Old Market Hall nearby.
Top-ranked sights in Helsinki: Helsinki Senate Square (Senaatintori), Uspenski Cathedral, Helsinki Central Library Oodi.
