Itinerary

  1. Start your day trip with a pickup from your Amman hotel and meet your private driver for the day, who is knowledgeable about the area and its history and is able to point out sites of interest along the way. The first stop will be at Madaba city, known as the ‘City of Mosaics.’ Madaba owes its popularity to a lavish mosaic map of the Holy Land that covers the floor of St George’s Church. Head inside the church to see it and learn about its history as well as the town’s other ancient biblical sites from a local guide.

    30 minAdmission included

  2. The St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Madaba, Jordan, is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered! While not as widely known as some of the city's iconic sites like the Church of St. George, this charming church offers a unique blend of history, religious significance, & architectural beauty. Historical Gem: Built in the 19th century, the church stands as a testament to Jordan's rich Christian heritage. Its elegant stone façade & stained glass windows whisper stories of devotion & faith across generations. Architectural Intrigue: The church's design blends Western & Eastern influences, showcasing a graceful mixture of Romanesque & Byzantine architectural styles. Take in the delicate arches, the intricate detailing around the entrance, & the peaceful courtyard adorned with greenery. Religious Significance: Dedicated to St. John the Baptist, a pivotal figure in both Christianity & Islam, the church offers a space for quiet contemplation & prayer for visitors of all faiths

    30 minAdmission included

  3. Keep exploring to Mount Nebo, the hill where Prophet Moses was believed to have been given a glimpse of the Promised Land before his passing. Enjoy the stunning views of the Jordan Valley, explore the historic lands of Judah and Jericho, and step inside the Franciscan monastery. This peaceful site, built on the spot of the ancient church of Mount Nebo, offers fascinating relics and beautiful mosaics to discover.

    45 minAdmission included

  4. After a buffet lunch at the Dead Sea Hotel (included in the price), you have a chance to relax. There are few places better to do so than at the lowest point on Earth: the Dead Sea. Considered one of the world’s true natural wonders, the impressive body of water is fed by a collection of incoming rivers that gush to its landlocked shores. The waters are unable to flow elsewhere, so they evaporate and leave behind a rich concentration of natural salt that attributes to the Dead Sea’s famous buoyancy. Relax at one of the beaches, or upgrade and spend your free time at the Dead Sea tourist beach rest house. Bob around in the Dead Sea’s salty water, perhaps reading a newspaper as you recline on the surface. How you spend your time at either site is up to you; remember to bring your bathing suit, a towel, and sunscreen. Then, relax during the return trip to Amman.

Below, the Roman Theatre, carved into the hillside, seats thousands, and the downtown souks around the Grand Husseini Mosque sell spices, gold and sweets, with the scent of coffee and cardamom in the air.
