About Khasab

Khasab is the main town of Oman's Musandam peninsula, a fjord-cut coast on the Strait of Hormuz, with a fort, dhow cruises and steep mountains.

Khasab is the chief town of Musandam, a mountainous peninsula of Oman that is cut off from the rest of the country by the United Arab Emirates. It sits on a small bay on the northern coast of the peninsula, facing the Strait of Hormuz. Khasab Fort, a 17th-century fort built by the Portuguese and later used by Omani rulers, is now a museum of local life.
