About Punta del Este
Punta del Este is Uruguay's main seaside resort, on a peninsula where the River Plate meets the Atlantic, with a yacht harbour and a giant sculpted hand.
Punta del Este occupies a narrow peninsula on Uruguay's coast, where the calm brown water of the River Plate meets the open Atlantic. Playa Mansa, on the river side, has gentle water, while Playa Brava, on the ocean side, has strong surf and wind. La Mano, a huge concrete hand rising from the sand on Brava beach, is the town's best-known sculpture. The harbour is full of yachts and fishing boats, and sea lions gather beside the fish sellers.
Top-ranked sights in Punta del Este: Casapueblo (Museo Taller de Casapueblo), Port of Punta del Este (Puerto de Punta del Este), Punta del Este Cruise Port.
