Itinerary

  1. For sunrise at Angkor Wat, you must arrive well before 5 a.m. to secure a viewing spot and capture the temple's iconic silhouette as the sky transitions from deep purple to golden hues. The most popular viewing spot is at the edge of the northern reflecting pool, where you can get the classic mirrored shot of the five towers.

    3 h

  2. It was the last state temple built at Angkor and the only one to be primarily Buddhist, though it later underwent changes reflecting Hinduism and Theravada Buddhism.

    2 h

  3. Ta Prohm is a 12th-century Buddhist temple in the Angkor region of Cambodia, famous for being overgrown by the jungle. Unlike many other temples in the park, it was deliberately left in its natural state, with massive tree roots twisting around ancient stone structures.

    1 h

  4. Banteay Kdei is also known as 'the citadel of monk's cells'. It is partially overgrown with towering, sinous trees. The silk cotton tree roots weaving their way through the stones of the ruined walls is a famously beautiful sight.

    45 min

  5. Ta Keo was never finished, and as such has a very different aspect to most of the Angkor temples. It's square, layered-pyramid shape makes it one of the more dramatic sites on the tour and climbing the terraces affords some beautiful views over the jungle.

    45 min

  6. Return to hotel after lunch or you can go to have lunch in the city at 13:00 pm.

About Siem Reap

Siem Reap is the riverside town beside Angkor, Cambodia's vast complex of Khmer temples, with night markets, river walks and a relaxed centre.

Angkor Wat, often called the largest religious monument in the world, rises above its moat in a silhouette of lotus-bud towers that is breathtaking at sunrise. Nearby, the walled city of Angkor Thom holds the Bayon, with its more than two hundred serene stone faces, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Baphuon, while Ta Prohm is gripped by the roots of giant silk-cotton and strangler fig trees.

Top-ranked sights in Siem Reap: Angkor Thom, Tonlé Sap, Kampong Phluk.
