As the day fades, the island’s nocturnal creatures emerge. About Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island lies off South Australia, a rugged island of sea lions, koalas, granite coastline and empty beaches reached by ferry or a short flight.

Kangaroo Island is the third-largest island in Australia, lying across Backstairs Passage from the Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide. A ferry crosses from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw, and Kingscote, the island's largest town, has an airport and a small harbour where little penguins come ashore at dusk. Much of the island is bushland and farmland, with few towns and long stretches of quiet coast.
