5An amazing experience from start to finish!
Me and my partner had an amazing time on the Matador Whitsundays - the views were incredible, the food was great and the staff were brilliant (shout-out Kayla, Ellie, Nan and Lochy) from start to finish - had a few good laughs! Can't recommend the experience enough, and I'd definitely suggest booking with Matador to get access to some pretty unique spots and have them all to yourselves (plus they actually sail which was lovely)!
5Amazing boat trip
I had such a great time on the Matador. We got to see so many amazing things like white haven and went snorkelling twice which was amazing. The crew consisting of Loki, Ellie and Teresa was super nice and welcoming. The food was great and you meet amazing people on board definitely would recommend!
5Unforgettable trip
It was amazing, the crew was perfect and the itinerary too. I loved everything we did. We saw turtles and whales, such a beautiful experience
5Great experiencing the Whitsundays on the Matador
Access to Whitehaven beach for 4 hours. This is a must as it’s the most photographed spot in Australia. Hosts on the boat , looked after everyone very well. Plenty of food for everyone. Snorkelling great fun at 2 different reefs. Added bonus of seeing turtles, humpback whale and dolphins during our 2 day trip. Lockey was very experienced skipper and Hannah & Ellie also looked after us extremely well A great 2 day, 1 night trip.
5Amazing experience
An unforgettable experience from start to finish. Although I joined the two-day, one-night boat tour on my own, I never felt alone thanks to the amazing group and the wonderful crew. Everyone quickly connected, and sharing this adventure together made it even more special. The crew was not only professional but also enthusiastic and involved, helping create a fun and welcoming atmosphere throughout the trip. Considering the quality of the experience, the destinations, the crew, and everything included, I found the price to be fair and well worth it. I would highly recommend this two-day, one-night boat tour to anyone looking for adventure, beautiful landscapes, and great company.
3Unique experience, service lacking
Me and partner did the Matador 2 day 1 night trip. The trip itself and sailing experience was unique and being able to snorkel and see the Great Barrier Reef was beautiful. However, we’ve given this a 3/5 because of the service. I would expect the staff on board to be engaging and enthusiastic. With this type of trip I would also hope that the staff would try to encourage socialising and chatting between guests and themselves. After reading some reviews before we booked - we hoped the staff would facilitate some good conversations and create a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately this was not the case. The staff seemed disinterested and acted as though the guests on board were a burden - their job was a chore that just needed to be done. This also meant that not one of the crew members gave us any info about the whitsunday islands, the sea, the wildlife or the Great Barrier Reef - infact they didn’t tell us any interesting facts about anything we’re were doing or seeing. For a tour that costs $500 each I would at least expect a few smiles from the staff and to feel part of the experience. Bit disappointing to put it mildly. As said before, the experience, the food, the trips that we did were all great - it’s a shame the easy part wasn’t done. If you are hoping to socialise a little in a fun environment, learn anything about what you are doing/seeing and feel welcome on board the ship then I would look elsewhere for a tour round the whitsundays.
Airlie Beach is a small seaside town on the Queensland coast and the mainland base for the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef.
The town sits on a sheltered bay of the Coral Sea in central Queensland, with a saltwater lagoon on the foreshore, a marina, and a main street of cafés and dive shops. Just offshore lie the Whitsunday Islands, a scatter of more than seventy forested islands set in calm turquoise water, and sailing boats of every size leave its harbours to cruise among them.
Top-ranked sights in Airlie Beach: Coral Sea Marina, Conway National Park.
