The Tulungrejo Trail, located in Blitar Regency, is one of the most popular routes to visit Mount Kelud from Malang. This route offers a different experience from other trails, as well as interesting natural scenery along the way. The hiking trail from Tulungrejo to the summit of Mount Kelud generally starts from the hiking post at the foot of the mountain. The hike passes through tropical forests, volcanic soil, and naturally arranged boulders. Climbers can enjoy the unspoilt natural atmosphere, with cool air and views of the active crater from a distance. After about 3-5 hours, depending on your speed and physical condition, you will reach the top of the mountain. At the top, you will be presented with a view of an active crater containing a beautiful blue crater lake, as well as unique volcanic formations.

About Malang

Malang, in the highlands of East Java, is a cool hill city of Dutch-era streets, colourful hillside villages and volcanoes close by.

Malang lies about 450 metres up on a plateau in East Java, cooler than the coast, ringed by mountains including Mount Arjuno and the Tengger massif. The Dutch developed it as a garden city, and the centre keeps tree-lined avenues and old colonial buildings around the Tugu monument and the Alun-Alun Merdeka square. Two painted kampungs, Jodipan and Tridi, climb a hillside along the river.
