7. The Anglican Cathedral of Saint Paul is one of the most significant historical monuments on Cerro Concepción, built in 1858 for the burgeoning British immigrant community. It is considered the first non-Catholic church built in Chile and is notable for its unique architectural design, which had to be adapted to the strict laws of the time that prohibited public worship outside of Catholicism. For this reason, the church was built without an exterior cross, tower, or bell tower, resembling from the outside a modest residential property.

Valparaíso is Chile's Pacific port, a city of brightly painted houses and old funiculars climbing steep hills above a curved bay.

The historic quarter of Valparaíso, a World Heritage Site, is spread over dozens of hills that fall steeply to the sea. Houses in every colour cling to the slopes, walls are covered in murals, and old funiculars known as ascensores still carry passengers between the port and the hilltops. Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción are the best known of the hills, with cafés, galleries and lookouts over the bay.
