Itinerário
We will visit the most representative places of the City of Oaxaca by bicycle, in the picturesque streets of street art that this beautiful city offers, we will locate places of local preference and we will combine the tour with a lot of art and history! We will make multiple breaks to observe art and take photographs in the oldest neighborhoods of the City, Jalatlaco and Xochimilco, with alleys decorated by Oaxacan artists and emblematic architecture of Oaxaca.
Located in one of the most popular neighborhoods of the City of Oaxaca, the Jalatlaco neighborhood, with its unique architecture within the area known for its colorful murals that evoke the Day of the Dead festivities and known for its traditional "comparsas", today it is a tourist and cultural reference that we will undoubtedly not miss to be able to take beautiful photographs and learn more about the urban planning and celebrations of Oaxaca!
With its colorful streets and old houses, the Xochimilco neighborhood stands out for being one of the oldest neighborhoods in this city founded in 1486 by Xochimilca - Aztec warriors where we will see old pre-colonial buildings. Right here are the arches of Xochimilco of colonial construction that were part of the San Felipe aqueduct built in the mid-eighteenth century to supply water to the population. A must-see when visiting Oaxaca!
Depending on the physical condition of the group, we will be able to see the City from the viewpoint located on the highest hill near the center where we will have unique panoramic views of the city, excellent for photographs and sunsets! We will pass by the Oaxaca crafts house and the house of one of the most emblematic characters of Mexico, the former president and Oaxacan Don Benito Juárez García!
We will visit one of the most beautiful churches in all of Latin America, the Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán! Today it is a cultural center made up of the Ex-convent, the Museum of the Cultures of Oaxaca, the Ethnobotanical Garden, the Burgoa Library and the Public Newspaper Archive. This great enclosure had many uses throughout its history since the beginning of its construction in 1570. It really reflects much of the history of the Oaxacan population! We will observe the New Spain baroque architecture of the beautiful Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, Cultural Heritage of Humanity and with luck we will see a "calenda" or "wedding" in the streets of the city, since the party never ends here!

About Oaxaca City
Oaxaca City is the colonial capital of Oaxaca state, a stone-built highland city of markets, mole, mezcal and Zapotec ruins nearby.
Oaxaca de Juárez sits in a high valley at about 1,500 metres, its centre built of pale green stone around a shaded zócalo. The baroque church of Santo Domingo, with its gilded interior, and the attached former convent, now a cultural museum, are the grandest sights. Streets run with market stalls, painted walls and courtyard cafés, and the historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
