About Tweed Heads
Tweed Heads is a coastal town on the New South Wales side of the Queensland border, running straight into Coolangatta and backed by the Tweed Valley.
Tweed Heads stands at the mouth of the Tweed River, the northernmost town on the New South Wales coast, and it runs straight into Coolangatta, so that the state border is a line on a map more than a break in the streets. Point Danger, the headland between the two, was named by Captain Cook in 1770 for the reefs offshore, and a lighthouse and a memorial stand there.
