With its main building and its numerous pavilions, the Hospital de San Pablo is, with the Instituto Pere Mata in Reus (also by Domènech i Montaner), one of the greatest modernist complexes in Catalonia. This building belongs to Gaudí's orientalist era (1883 - 1888), period during which the architect built a series of works with an evident oriental taste, inspired by the art of the Middle East and the Far East (India, Persia and Japan), as well as the Islamic Hispanic art, mostly Mudejar and Nasrid styles. The building was declared an Official Asset of Cultural Interest the 24th of July 1969, and part of the World Heritage in 2005.

About Barcelona

Top-ranked sights in Barcelona: Sagrada Família, Montserrat Mountain, Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic).
