With its main building and its numerous pavilions, the Hospital de San Pablo is, with the Instituto Pere Mata in Reus (also by Domènech i Montaner), one of the greatest modernist complexes in Catalonia. The Parque Güell shows Gaudí's artistic plenitude: this work belongs to his naturalist era (first decade of the XX Century), a period when the architect perfected his personal style inspired by the organic shapes of nature. In the Parque Güell, Gaudí used all of his architecural genious and put into practice a lot of his innovative structural solutions, that later would be characteristic of his organic style and would culminate in the Sagrada Familia.

When the Casa Vicens was built, Gracia was still independent to Barcelona with its own city hall, it was considered a village. Today it's part of Barcelona. This building belongs to Gaudí's orientalist era (1883 - 1888), period during which the architect built a series of works with an evident oriental taste, inspired by the art of the Middle East and the Far East (India, Persia and Japan), as well as the Islamic Hispanic art, mostly Mudejar and Nasrid styles. The building was declared an Official Asset of Cultural Interest the 24th of July 1969, and part of the World Heritage in 2005.

About Barcellona

Top-ranked sights in Barcellona: Sagrada Família, Montserrat Mountain, Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic).
