5EXCELLENT AMAZON TRIP
My husband and I went on the Iquitos Amazon 4 Day/3 Night tour. We had an absolutely WONDERFUL time! Jose was a really awesome guide. He showed us everything we had wanted to see and so much more. We saw many monkeys, sloths, caiman, electric fish, paiche, tarantulas, various birds, snakes, and even caught piranha. Jose was incredibly knowledgeable about the jungle and went above and beyond to make sure we got what we wanted out of the trip. We cannot say enough good things about our experience with him. The lodge was comfortable and the food was also very good. Because of our small group, we were able to have a very personalized experience that I don’t think others with alternative companies were getting (just based off looking at the number of people in other boats). I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an adventure, and hope I can go again in the future!
5Excellent adventure and educational experience
Excellent tour! The flora and fauna experience was legendary. Amazing adventure, and educational experience. Aldo is an expert guide. So much fun!
4Great tour humid and mosquitos
It was worth it to see the Amazon jungle. But be aware of the high humidity and mosquitos, especially if the mosquitos get in your room
5Authentic jungle experience
It was a very interesting 4 days. The guide george took really good care of me. He is like a walking lexicon. He knows so much about the jungle. The lodge is rustic but even has wifi in the evening.
5A Truly Special Amazon Experience
We did a four-day jungle excursion with Peru Jungle Trips, and it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. Our guide, Aldo, was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, always making sure we were comfortable, safe, and having a great time. The activities were very well planned and fun, the lodge was cute and comfortable, and the food and service were excellent throughout the trip. Everything ran smoothly and exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Peru Jungle Trips to anyone considering an Amazon adventure!
5A must do Amazonian excursion!
This is a must do trip if you’re visiting Iquitos and the Amazon. It’s exceptionally organised from start to finish but the real highlight is the people. Our flight to Iquitos was changed last minute, but Jose the driver still came and picked us up at 4:30am with a smile. Our next encounter was Marco - really passionate about showing us all the different cuisines in Belen market, the animals in the fish farm and ensured we spotted the dolphins on our way to the lodge. Then came our extraordinary guide, George. Spending 4 days with George was a JOY. He is so incredibly knowledgeable about the Amazon and deeply passionate about conservation. He made sure that everything we did was completely ethical and provided us with once in a lifetime excursions and opportunities. From introducing us to new wildlife we’d never seen before, teaching us how to fish and providing us with insights into Amazonian life, nature and the environment, George did not rest until we had seen everything there was to see. We’ve learnt SO much that we didn’t know before - so if you’re looking to learn and appreciate the Amazon, this is the trip for you. Carlos and his family who run the lodge made everything so comfortable for us and cooked delicious meals every breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are a wonderful family with the world’s friendliest dog. Proving they go above and beyond, after our trip we had an extra day in Iquitos, so Jose spent an extra day with us taking us to the Manatee conservation centre in the city and to a local beach, spending his Saturday with us when he didn’t have to. Meeting wonderful people is one of the joys of travelling and the people you will meet on this tour will be some of the best!
Iquitos is a river city in the Peruvian Amazon, reached only by air or water, a port of rubber-boom mansions and stilt-house neighbourhoods.
Iquitos stands on the Amazon in the Peruvian rainforest, and no road links it to the rest of the country; people and goods arrive by river or by air. The city flourished in the late nineteenth-century rubber boom, and some mansions of that time survive, with tiled façades, around the Plaza de Armas. The Malecón Tarapacá, a riverfront promenade, looks out over the water.
Top-ranked sights in Iquitos: Amazon River, Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Floating City of Belen.
