Osaka Kintsugi Gold Repair Art Workshop

Discover the beauty of Kintsugi, the Japanese art of transforming broken pottery into something beautiful and unique, in a peaceful workshop near Gion and Kawaramachi in Kyoto. In this hands-on experience, you’ll repair a ceramic piece yourself, carefully highlighting its cracks with gold and giving it a completely new character. Instead of hiding imperfections, Kintsugi celebrates them as part of an object’s story — a unique Japanese way of seeing beauty in imperfection and change. With step-by-step guidance from a friendly instructor, you’ll learn the basic techniques of Kintsugi while also discovering the history, meaning, and philosophy behind this fascinating Japanese craft. No previous experience is needed, so anyone can enjoy creating their own piece. One of the most special parts of this experience is that every finished piece is different. The original cracks and the way you repair them create a design that belongs only to you.
