Hanoï, capitale du Vietnam : temples au bord des lacs, boulevards coloniaux français et vieux quartier envahi de cuisine de rue et de scooters.
Les rues étroites du Vieux Quartier, dont chacune était autrefois consacrée à un seul métier, s'étendent juste au nord du lac Hoan Kiem, où le pont rouge de Huc mène au temple de la Montagne de Jade. On s'y promène à l'aube pour voir le tai-chi au bord de l'eau, ou à la nuit tombée, quand les trottoirs se remplissent d'étals de nourriture et de petits tabourets en plastique.
