About Guangzhou

Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong on the Pearl River, is the home of Cantonese cooking, with old temples, a colonial-era island and a tall modern skyline.

The Pearl River flows through the city between a skyline led by the 600-metre Canton Tower and neighbourhoods of older low-rise streets. The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, with its ornate carvings and ceramic roof figures, shows local Lingnan craft at its best, and the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees has a tall pagoda that dates back centuries.
