Itinéraire

  1. A tour of the beautifully rugged and scenic Dingle Peninsula, one of the most untouched and historically intact areas of Ireland. Preserved by its remoteness and rugged inhospitable landscape it contains many examples of ancient settlements amid rolling hills and rocky wave hewn coastlines. Along the way you will visit Inch beach, Annascaul, the birthplace of renowned Antartic explorer Tom Crean. Driving through patchwork quilt fields dotted white with lazily grazing sheep. Learn a few words of "Gaelic", widely spoken in this area. On Slea Head Drive view incredibly rugged coastlines, Beehive huts, Gallarus Oratory and Kilmakader Churchyard. Visit Brandon Creek, the place where St.Brendan is said to have set sail from on his voyage to the "New World" in 512AD. Lunch in lovely Dingle town and stroll its quaint streets to visit some of its many bespoke craft shops to find unique gifts for those at home before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon. A wonderfully enjoyable day out.

About Killarney

Killarney is a small County Kerry town beside a national park of lakes, mountains and old woodland, and the usual start of the Ring of Kerry.

Killarney National Park, on the town's doorstep, takes in three lakes and ancient oak and yew woods, with the MacGillycuddy's Reeks rising to the west, where Carrauntoohil is the highest mountain in Ireland. Muckross House is a Victorian mansion with gardens on a lake shore, Muckross Abbey is a ruined friary, Ross Castle stands on the water, and Torc Waterfall drops through the woods. The park shelters Ireland's only native herd of red deer.

Top-ranked sights in Killarney: Killarney National Park, Ladies View, Ross Castle.
