Points forts
Step into Norfolk Island’s extraordinary past on an in-depth guided tour of World Heritage-listed Kingston, one of the island’s most historically significant and evocative landscapes. With a strong focus on Norfolk Island’s two British penal settlements, your local guide will bring to life the people, events and systems that shaped this remarkable place. From the island’s first European settlement in 1788 through to the infamous Second Settlement, when Norfolk Island became known as one of the harshest penal colonies in the British Empire. Along the way, guests will also gain insight into the two other communities who have called Kingston home: the early Polynesian settlers who lived on Norfolk Island centuries before European arrival, and the descendants of the Bounty mutineers and their Tahitian families who arrived from Pitcairn Island in 1856. The tour includes a guided visit through the historic Kingston cemetery.

4Good experience
Very informative tour and the guide was very knowledgeable. So the tour was good but I thought it would be a walking tour rather than a bus tour and I was disappointed because there wasn't as much information about the prison ruins as I hoped which is why I didn't say the tour was excellent. The cemetery information was excellent.
5Interesting History tour
We had a fantastic tour with Liz from Baunti Tours. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about Norfolk Island’s history.Would recommend this tour.In our opinion10/10.
5An engaging experience
A great tour, we learnt so much about the history of this place. Our guide/driver was excellent- very knowledgeable and stories/facts he told kept us engaged and interested. Would highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about the early convicts on Norfolk Is.
3Not so much
Was looking forward to this tour but was ultimately disappointed. Our guide gave us the impression he’d been doing this for a while and had kinda checked out. He was nice enough after he’d done the hotel pick ups and switched the mic on but not very engaging. And BO issue was real and unpleasant!
5Review
Excellent guide, the history and stories never stopped flowing, throughly enjoyable, would recommend it to anyone..
3Need a change in tour guide
Hate to say it but I think they need a new your guide without naming names the tour guide was an elderly man that needs to retire he kept repeating himself all the time and if he was asked a question he did not know the answer to he would say how would I know I wasn’t there !!! This tour did not cover the 2 houses in Kingston which would have been great to view and we stood around in the rain listening to him repeat himself constantly . Waste of time and money . Sorry

About Norfolk Island
Norfolk Island is a small green island in the South Pacific, with tall pines, a World Heritage convict settlement and descendants of the Bounty mutineers.
Norfolk Island lies in the South Pacific about 1,400 kilometres east of the Australian mainland, between New Zealand and New Caledonia, and is an Australian territory. It is only eight kilometres long, a plateau of pasture and farmland ringed by cliffs and lined with the tall Norfolk Island pines that gave the tree its name. Kingston, on the south coast, holds the Georgian buildings and ruins of two convict settlements, part of the Australian Convict Sites World Heritage listing.
