Points forts

This experience follows one of Natal’s most authentic food stories, rooted in Redinha, where ginga com tapioca became a symbol of the city’s coastal identity. Moving from a traditional market to a seafood hub and ending with a sweet local finish, the route connects everyday flavors with the people and traditions behind them. Each stop is explored with a local guide who shares the cultural context, turning simple tastings into a deeper understanding of how Natal eats, lives, and relates to the sea. Sample tasting menu: (Tastings may vary depending on availability.) Ginga com tapioca — Redinha’s signature bite. Fresh seafood tasting — Coastal flavors from Natal’s fish market. Tapioca doce — Tapioca with coconut and condensed milk. Camarão grelhado — Grilled shrimp with simple coastal seasoning. Peixe frito — Fresh fried local fish. About Natal

Natal, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, is a sunny Atlantic city known for its dunes, warm beaches and an old star-shaped fort at the river mouth.

Natal was founded around Christmas in 1599, which gave it its name, and the star-shaped Forte dos Reis Magos still guards the mouth of the Potengi River where the city began. Modern Natal spreads over low hills and sand, with a cable-stayed bridge across the river, a large dune park that keeps a remnant of Atlantic forest, and the city beach of Ponta Negra, where the great dune called Morro do Careca rises behind the sand.

Top-ranked sights in Natal: Pipa Beach (Praia da Pipa) , Pirangi Cashew Tree (Cajueiro de Pirangi), Genipabu.
