Highlights
You'll learn new cooking techniques that can easily be repeated at home. I was fortunate enough to grow up among the best cooks, my grandmother and my mother. Let the food be our language. I will introduce you how the ingredients can be made at home. In the past times people didn't have many ingredients and used their skills to make the best possible meal. The most important thing in Macedonian cuisine is that the dishes are made from only a few ingredients and you must use your imagination to make the testiest dish from the available products. Vegetarians are welcomed. Please let me know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions.

5A Delightful Evening Cooking
The cooking class was done at the family's home just outside Ohrid. The woman leading it was very kind, spoke good English, and was very helpful. Her husband was also present to aid with set up and we had a lovely dinner with the two of them. We learned three different recipes: byrek, singing bird dipping sauce, and dolmas. The food was delicious and we learned so much about Macedonian history and culture throughout the evening. We highly recommend taking this class if you have the time!
5More Than a Cooking Class — A Wonderful Family Experience
Little did we know just how charming and fun this experience would be. The class is hosted a few kilometers outside of Ohrid in a beautiful family home surrounded by fruit trees and greenery, and the setting could not have been more peaceful. What really made the experience special was the family. They made everything feel incredibly warm, intimate, and personal from the moment we arrived. It felt less like a typical cooking class and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the entire experience was one of the highlights of our time in Ohrid. We’re already looking forward to using the recipes again once we’re back home. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for something authentic, personal, and a little different from the usual sightseeing.
5Delicious authentic food
We were welcomed in to Sonja’s lovely rustic home and knew we were going to experience something special. We made traditional Macedonian food the way she had been taught by her grandmother and then got to share it for dinner! It was all so delicious and authentic! Sonja and her husband were very hospitable and went above and beyond! We can’t recommend this cooking class enough.
5Fantastic cookery evening
We had a really fantastic evening and totally recommend this course. Pick up was exactly on time - despite our accommodation being a little out of the way. We shared our evening with two other guests - which really added to it. We made Sarma and Burek. Learnt a lot about local cookery and the country. Sonja & Zoran were perfect hosts.
5More than a cookery class: eat, laugh, love
We have done a lot in our 7 days in Macedonia and Sonja’s cookery class was undoubtedly the best experience we had. We learnt so much from both her and her husband Zoran about cookery, history, languages and culture just by chatting over cooking and having coffee and wine with them. Communication and pick up was very smooth from our hotel as they came to meet us in their car. Their house is lovely and their gardens have amazing fruit and nut trees - some of the cooking ingredients were even grown in their garden. We made two big dishes and a dip and were incredibly full by the end! We were so touched by their incredible hospitality and will definitely be back another time to learn more. Thank you so much Sonja and Zoran!
5Delightful Cooking Experience

About Ohrid
Ohrid is a lakeside town in North Macedonia on one of Europe's oldest and deepest lakes, with a hilltop fortress and Byzantine churches.
Ohrid stands on the north-east shore of Lake Ohrid, which North Macedonia shares with Albania and which UNESCO lists for both its nature and its culture. The old town climbs a hill from the water to Samuel's Fortress, and the church of St John at Kaneo perches on a cliff above the lake. Frescoed Byzantine churches, among them St Sophia and St Clement's at Plaošnik, record the town's role as a centre of Slavic learning.
