Doing so, you get to hear the story of Malmö, giving context to what the town is all about.  The tour is normally 2-3 hours and can sometimes be adapted on request.

Itinerary

  1. Start the tour centrally close to the train station.

    5 min

  2. Begin in old town to discover Malmö's old history, and how Malmö is poor at remembering it. The church is the oldest building in Malmö.

    10 min

  3. See Malmö's central square, with the City Hall and the statue of the king that once made sure Malmö is Swedish and no longer Danish.

    10 min

  4. Get off the beaten path to see an especially Swedish park. A spot for casual relaxaction, for minigolf, for cultural events, for a drink in the oriental Moriskan pub, or for political rallies among the small memorials of former ministers in a park once owned by a political party.

    10 min

  5. Discover Malmö's cultural center, the place for hip and alternative pubs and resturants.

    10 min

  6. Stop by in the King's Park, the prettiest in Malmö.

    10 min

  7. Finish the tour out by the sea, with a look at Malmö's landmark skyscraper. This area embodies Malmö's journey from industrial town in 1980, through economic depression, to today's comeback.

About Malmö

Malmö is Sweden's southern gateway on the Öresund strait, with a twisting skyscraper, a Renaissance castle, canal parks and a link to Copenhagen.

Malmö faces Copenhagen across the Öresund strait, joined by the long Öresund bridge-tunnel, and is Skåne's main city, in southern Sweden. The Turning Torso, a 190-metre tower that twists as it rises, is the city's modern landmark. Stortorget is the old market square, framed by the Dutch Renaissance town hall, and Malmöhus, a castle begun in the sixteenth century, stands in a park with moats and canals.

Top-ranked sights in Malmö: Øresund Bridge, Turning Torso, Malmö Castle (Malmöhus).
