Itinerary

  1. First, we start off by visiting the picturesque village of Marsaxlokk, in the south-east of Malta. This is a very small village renowned for its fishing community. It offers peaceful walks and nice cafes along the water strip. If we go on a Sunday then we will be enjoying its typical markets with food and fish stalls, clothing wares and various other nick-nacks.

    1 h

  2. Żurrieq is also famous for the beach in Wied iż-Żurrieq and the Blue Grotto which will be our next stop. If you love the sea, then you will surely fall in love with the cool blue waters of Zurrieq. Here you will have the option to take a boat ride and have a closer look at the beauty of the Maltese coast. During summer, you can take a refreshing dip in the sea and lunch in one of the restaurants serving typical Mediterranean cuisine.

    1.5 h

  3. Our last destination will be at the site of two of the most famous Megalithic Temples of Malta, Hagar Qim and Mnajdra in Qrendi dating 3600-3200 BC. These two temples are among the most ancient religious sites on Earth and are described by the World Heritage Sites committee as architectural masterpieces.

About Valletta

Valletta is Malta's tiny walled capital on a rocky peninsula, built by the Knights of St John with baroque palaces, a deep harbour and a Caravaggio.

Valletta was founded in 1566 by the Order of St John, a year after the Great Siege of Malta, and laid out on a grid of streets on a narrow peninsula between two harbours. The whole city is a World Heritage site. St John's Co-Cathedral looks plain outside but is gilded within, and holds Caravaggio's Beheading of Saint John the Baptist. The Grand Master's Palace and the Upper Barrakka Gardens look over Grand Harbour.

Top-ranked sights in Valletta: Upper Barrakka Gardens, St. John's Co-Cathedral (Kon-Katidral ta' San Gwann), Grand Master's Palace.
