Highlights
This is a tour designed for travelers, who seek to step further than most and feel like real explorers. Combine an ice cave visit with an adventurous hike, as you venture deep into the glacier. You will visit blue ice caves and canyons, which most people don't go to. By hiking further we manage to stay away from the crowds. On this tour there is also plenty of time for photography without feeling rushed. The tour starts with a 40 min 4x4 ride to the glacier. After arriving at the glacier's edge we gear up and set off for the glacier hike. Expect to spend 3 - 3,5 hours on the glacier and in the caves. If the conditions allow we try to visit more spectacular formations, such as ice canyons, crevasses and moulins. The tour ends with a similar drive back to the starting point. You will come back feeling like an accomplished adventurer!

5A Magical Experience! Do it!
This hike ranks right up there as one of the most magical experiences of my life! Being able to hike over the largest glacier in Europe (I think I got that right), while stopping along the way to check out several hauntingly beautiful, blue ice caves, was beyond awesome. Our guide, Claudia, was amazing! Her unquestionable expertise and knowledge about the glacier were nicely counterbalanced with a fun and quirky sense of humor. She had us chuckling and smiling the whole way with her hilarious but insightful observations. I still laugh when I watch the video I shot of her explaining the "glacier mice" phenomenon. And, for what it's worth, she took outstanding photos and videos of each group member all along the way. I highly recommend Ice Walkers, in general, and this tour, in particular. It was ultra professional and very well planned with safety in mind, but still allowed for enough freedom and spontaneity to keep things interesting the whole time. Just be prepared for a rather long hike over uneven ground with a bit of scrambling inside the ice caves. Your ankles are in for a workout! But don't let that discourage you - you'll have a smile on your face throughout, and wouldn't we all be better off with stronger ankles? And, one more time, I have to compliment Claudia for an outstanding job. Her knowledge and humor made this ice trek one of the highlights of my life. My friends and family are in awe of my pictures and photos of that day. Stil, hard to believe I was actually there... PS Although I wasn't in his group for the hike (they broke us into 2 smaller parties), I also want to give a shout out to Norris, the other guide. He provided a vey warm and friendly welcome as we were waiting to board the transit vans for the short drive to the starting point. It was clear that he had deep knowledge about glaciers and it was great talking with him about the icy quirks of nearby Diamond Beach. From what I gather, he's a stellar photographer and specializes in leading shutterbugs across the ice. Thanks again, Norris!
5Great glacier hike
An unforgettable hiking glacier tour in Iceland! The service was outstanding from start to finish. Friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The guide Marcin made us feel safe and comfortable while sharing fascinating information about the glacier. The views were absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland!

5Multiple Ice Caves and Glacier Walk
We loved the glacier walk and ice cave tour! Our guide Luke “Ice Walker” was excellent. He served as a great educator during the tour and helped us take great pictures! We visited 2 ice caves and an ice slot canyon carved by the water. The caves change over time and the guides do a great job of scouting new caves to include for the tour. We would absolutely do it again on a return trip.
5This was our favorite...
This was our favorite experience in Iceland! Glacier + hiking is not something that sounded fun to me, but my husband really wanted to see the ice caves. 6 hours was the perfect amount of time for this tour, 3 hours would’ve felt too rushed. The ice caves were gorgeous! I don’t know where else in the world you could see something like them so 100% you should add this to your list of things to do in Iceland. Martin was such a fun guide and was always giving us information on the caves. We got to see 2 caves and a crevasse. Just be aware that this was somewhat of a physical activity since we had around 2 hours of climbing up hill. Definitely worth it!
5Highly recommend!
Our guides Lucaz and Karolina were phenomenal. They were very well organized, safe, patient, knowledgeable, and friendly! We were provided with helmets and crampons. We met at the parking lot and took a shuttle to the glacier with a group of about 10. We were originally booked on a day that was forecasted to have rain and strong winds. The team messaged us in advance and recommended we change dates if possible. We are so grateful they did because it led to the perfect engagement! Lucaz went above and beyond, separating the group from my partner and I for a moment so that my fiancee could propose. He took the best photos! Highly recommend - once in a life time experience!!!

About Höfn
Höfn is a small fishing town in south-east Iceland, set between a glacier-fed lagoon and mountains, and known for its langoustine.
Höfn stands on a low peninsula in south-east Iceland, with the broad white dome of Vatnajökull, Europe's largest ice cap by volume, rising beyond the lagoon and a ring of glacier tongues. The town is built around a busy harbour, and its name simply means harbour. Black sand, birds and wide skies surround it, and the Ring Road passes through, more than 450 kilometres from Reykjavík.
