  • 2Yes, the Turks repeatedly invaded Hungary

It ran long. And got repetitive. The guide was lovely, but the topic was repetitive. It wasn’t scary at all.

  • 5Spooky Yet Very Informative - Great Value for Your Money

If you're looking for a fun couple's activity, I can definitely recommend this one. The evening view of the city is gorgeous and you get a great value for the price. Your experience will vary though depending on who you get as your guide and do please read the booking details carefully about where to meet the group. The way to the Buda Castle from where you meet with the group at the Point Zero statue is by feet, and the way up to the castle is quite the workout! Our tour was at 7:50PM with Zoltán B. He was full of energy, funny and was super informative and passionate. He didn't just tell nonsense scary stories. He instead balanced the horror with historical facts and context. He was really informative and we finished the tour feeling like we not only had fun but actually learned a lot. The humour weaved into his story telling was much appreciated to break up the gory bits. He went above and beyond and we really can't praise him enough.

  • 4A fun night out

I really enjoyed this walking tour. The host was excellent: very engaging and clearly knew how to tell a good story. Unfortunately, I didn't pick the best night to go. It was a Saturday during a wine festival, so the area was very busy and noisy. This made it harder to immerse yourself in the atmosphere, and we also had to skip one of the stops on the route. If I had one small criticism, it would be that the ghost element felt a little tacked on. I would have preferred to hear local ghost stories connected to specific locations in the area, rather than spooky stories from elsewhere. Overall, though, I really enjoyed learning about the history of Budapest, and it was a fun and entertaining night out.

  • 3Not as theatrical as I expected

Not a bad tour but I was expecting a more dramatic and theatrical experience given the description. I appreciated the historical details and our guide was very good but as someone who enjoys haunted houses and scary themes I expected more stories about vampires and maybe even a jump scare at some point for entertainment.

  • 4Funny evening tour

Our tour was very good, Bernadette was very funny and informative, as it was at night it was very pretty looking over the river fro the castle. There are alot of steps at the start but we managed ok.

  • 4A TON of stairs. Not for...

A TON of stairs. Not for any that have mobility issues. More about history of buildings than spirits.

About Budapest

Budapest joins hilly Buda and flat Pest across the Danube, a grand capital of thermal baths, riverside palaces and lively ruin bars.

On the Buda side, Castle Hill holds Buda Castle, the Matthias Church and the white turrets of Fishermen's Bastion, all looking down on the river. The Chain Bridge crosses to Pest, where the Hungarian Parliament Building stretches along the bank and St Stephen's Basilica rises a few streets inland. Gellért Hill and its Citadella give the widest views.

Top-ranked sights in Budapest: House of Parliament (Országház), Buda Castle (Budai Vár), Chain Bridge (Széchenyi Lanchid) .
