Experience the best of Anse Volbert

Anse Volbert is a village and beach on the north-east coast of Praslin, the second-largest island of the Seychelles, in the Indian Ocean. The beach is a long curve of white sand, edged by takamaka trees and sheltered by a reef, so the water stays calm and shallow. The area is also known as Côte d'Or, and small guesthouses and cafés line the road behind the sand.

From the beach, boats run out to Curieuse Island, where giant tortoises roam the mangroves and trails, and to St Pierre, a granite islet good for snorkelling. The Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO-listed palm forest across the island, is home to the coco de mer, a palm that bears the world's largest seed. La Digue is a short boat ride to the south-east.

Creole cooking, with grilled fish, octopus curry, coconut milk and breadfruit chips, is served at beach cafés and small family restaurants. Warm, humid weather lasts all year. The south-east trade winds from May to October bring cooler, drier days, while the north-west monsoon from November to March is hotter and wetter.
