Puerto Quetzal is a port on Guatemala's Pacific coast, in the department of Escuintla, on a hot plain between the mountains and the sea. It handles cargo and cruise ships, and the small town of Puerto San José and the beach resort of Iztapa lie close by along the same coast. Behind it, sugar-cane fields stretch inland toward the line of volcanoes.
