There's an enormous amount of things to consider: it's the birthplace of world-famous comics, there are 80 museums, politicians from 27 countries, 3 official languages and even more unofficial ones, it was at the heart of both WWI and WWII and people from 184 different nationalities are living in it. 1Avoid Ambasaadors of Brussels - take a 'free' tour instead
I advise all travellers to Brussels looking for a guided walking tour to avoid Ambassadors of Brussels. My husband and I were in Brussels on 5 October 2026 and had prebooked and paid for the Tell Me About Brussels walking tour, which was to last 2.5 hours. On arrival at the Grand Place, we met our prospective guide, who immediately informed us that the tour would likely be cancelled for lack of demand as we were the only ones wanting to take part. He assured us that another tour with a colleague would start half an hour later with enough participants to go ahead and that he would text his colleague to register us. We waited, waited and waited some more. No colleague ever appeared and neither did other prospective participants. We felt deceived and disappointed. We ended up taking part in a 'free' tour with a rival company, which was excellent.

Excellent tour guide in Tom he had the right amount of humour with excellent knowledge and history. Would definitely recommend doing this tour as it gives you an overview of the city in a short time

Excellent walking tour - one of the best I've joined out of many in the last few years. Tom's humour and stories made time fly by, and he was attentive to the needs of the group. His wealth of knowledge showed real passion for the city and topics he presented.

- You'll find your storyteller on the Square holding a YELLOW umbrella with AMBASSADORS on it. Beware of other companies using yellow umbrellas, their guides usually don't check bookings thoroughly enough to refer you to the right guide.

About Brussels
Brussels, Belgium's capital and a seat of European institutions, pairs a gilded Grand-Place with comic-strip murals, Art Nouveau houses and waffle stalls.
The Grand-Place is the centre of old Brussels, a cobbled square ringed by gilded guildhalls and the Gothic town hall, whose spire rises over everything. A few streets away, the small bronze Manneken Pis draws a crowd. On the hill above, the Royal Palace and the Mont des Arts gardens look down on the lower town, while the Atomium, a giant model of an iron crystal built for the 1958 World Fair, stands on the northern edge.
