1. Noravank is one of the gems of medieval Armenian architecture. The church has a distinctive two-story construction. It features a unique (rare for Armenian architecture) second floor, accessed by a narrow staircase, which symbolizes the connection between the earthly and the divine. Surrounded by tall cliffs and beautiful red rocks, this ancient site offers not just spiritual significance but also breathtaking views. Here you will see the one and only depiction of God the Father in Armenia, which is just as astonishing as the face of Jesus Christ that appeared on the dome of the Church’s narthex.

About Yerevan

Yerevan is Armenia's pink-stoned capital, a city of wide squares, café terraces and museums, with Mount Ararat standing on its southern skyline.

The city grew around Erebuni, a fortress founded in 782 BC, though most of today's centre was built in the Soviet era from the soft pink and orange tuff that earned Yerevan its nickname, the Pink City. The Cascade, a giant stairway of terraces and sculpture, climbs a hillside, and the Matenadaran holds a famous collection of medieval manuscripts.
