Mike is a 3rd generation high school shop teacher with a decade of experience making students and teachers alike successful in all types of creations. Mike will start this fast paced class by making the sparks fly on a state of the art CNC Plasma cutter to supply you with a flat metal animal blank in the shape of a variety of alaska creatures such as Sockeye, Coho or King Salmon, halibut, grizzly bears, dungeness crabs, bald eagles, pacific octopus and more! You will get a unique chance to see inside a working cnc workshop and learn some of the tricks of the trade for turning dull, crusty steel into spectacular one-of-a-kind Alaskan keepsakes.

About Sitka

Sitka is a small island town on Alaska's Pacific coast, once the capital of Russian America, with onion domes, totem poles and a sound ringed by mountains.

Sitka sits on the west coast of Baranof Island in south-east Alaska, facing the Pacific across a sound dotted with islands and overlooked by the volcanic cone of Mount Edgecumbe. It was the capital of Russian America, known as New Archangel, and in 1867 Alaska was formally transferred from Russia to the United States on Castle Hill. The onion-domed St Michael's Cathedral and the Russian Bishop's House, built in 1842, recall that past.

Top-ranked sights in Sitka: Fortress of the Bear, Alaska Raptor Center, Sitka National Historical Park.
