About Lausanne
Lausanne is a hillside city on Lake Geneva, home of the Olympic movement, with a Gothic cathedral, vineyard terraces nearby and a lakeside quay at Ouchy.
Lausanne climbs steeply from the north shore of Lake Geneva, with the old town and its Gothic cathedral on the upper hill and the lakeside district of Ouchy below. The International Olympic Committee has been based in the city since 1915, and the Olympic Museum stands on the lakefront in a park of sculpture. A small metro runs up the slope between the lake and the station.
