Cebu, the oldest city founded by Spain in the Philippines, is a busy island port with a colonial core, waterfalls and reefs within reach.

Cebu City was founded by Spain in 1565 and is the oldest city of the Spanish period in the Philippines. Magellan's Cross, set in a small pavilion, marks the place where Ferdinand Magellan planted a cross in 1521, and the Basilica of the Santo Niño holds a small statue of the Christ child that is the focus of the city's biggest festival. Fort San Pedro, a triangular stone fort, stands by the harbour.
