Escape the bustling souks, streets and palaces of Marrakech, and climb on the back of a camel to ride through the beautiful Palmeraie on the outskirts of the city. Although the real desert is too far from the city center, about 20 minutes drive away lies an oasis of manicured gardens, sweet-scented orange trees and palm groves that make ideal terrain for a spot of light camel riding. A driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to meet the camel handlers and their trusty beasts. They will then guide you into the Palmeraie and on through authentic villas and green palm groves. Discover how the locals live outside the city center. And end with a fresh mint tea.

So I’m not one for wanting to exploit animals for the tourist trade, hiwever as my children have never experienced it, I sucked it up fir them…sorry camels! Anyway, a really lovely hour and a half and the kids enjoyed it, which is all I wanted as they have never been. I wouldn’t do it again, as the kids have now done that and i don’t like animals being exploited for tourism but had a nice time
5Perfect one-hour camel ride experience with dunes, Berber clothing and tea
We had an amazing camel ride experience! The flexible pickup made everything easy, and riding through the beautiful dunes in traditional Berber clothing felt truly authentic. Our camel guide was friendly and helpful, took great photos for us, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. The one-hour ride was a perfect match for us. Highly recommended!
5Great Experience and Amazing Staff!
Our driver picked us up and took us straight to the site where the camels are just outside the city. Yassin, who took us on our camel ride, was super friendly and informative the entire time. He stopped to take pictures and videos of us along the way. They invited us for tea and cookies afterwards which was perfect to end off the experience.
5Camel ride and tea experience in agafay desert
Excellent value for money. Pick was on time, staff were friendly and kind. Our tour guide was very fun and took loads of great photos for us. The tea after was also very relaxing and authentic, definitely would recommend.

Agafay is a stony desert plateau south-west of Marrakech, a landscape of barren hills, camel tracks and tented camps with the High Atlas beyond.
Agafay is a stretch of rocky, semi-desert plateau south-west of Marrakech, between the city and the High Atlas Mountains. Unlike the Sahara, it has few sand dunes: the ground is flat, stony and pale, broken by low hills and dry riverbeds, and in winter the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas rise to the south.
