About Perugia
Perugia is the hilltop capital of Umbria, a medieval city of steep stairways, an Etruscan arch, a great fountain, and chocolate and jazz festivals.
Perugia climbs a long ridge in central Italy, a city of medieval lanes, stairways and arches. The Fontana Maggiore, a carved marble fountain from the 1270s, stands on Piazza IV Novembre beside the cathedral and the Palazzo dei Priori. Inside the palace, the National Gallery of Umbria holds paintings by Perugino and Fra Angelico. The Etruscan walls, the Etruscan Arch and the Etruscan Well recall earlier days.
