5Worth a Visit
Pleasant day out. Minibus took us from outside Ora Restaurant, Corfu Old Town to the ferry heading to Saranda. Ferry ride was about an hour. V busy. Then we were taken by coach to Butrint. Guide was very informative re Albania generally and Butrint’s history. We had a buffet lunch at Livia’s Butrint and then headed back for about 1.5 hours freetime in Saranda. Then walked back to catch ferry to Corfu.
4Good but not great
Excellent day overall in Albania with an excellent guide. A snapshot of the country and a pleasant cruise either way. Two downside points - we were mixed with a German party and the guide dominated the briefing on the bus - too loud and takes too much. Secondly we opted for the bus collection from our hotel - although early pick up we didn’t mind but when we returned (which was after 6pm) we still were waiting for the other boat to come in and we gave up and got a taxi
4Beautiful Albania
This a lovely tour and well worth doing. Everything rolled smoothly to plan and was a good lunch spot
3Great Guides but Better Logistics Needed
The guides in Albania were great - very knowledgeable and kept the group moving on time. The tour of Butrint was excellent. Lunch was very nice (although served very early - it’s a long day with not much time built in for food). We opted for hotel transfers but it’s not clear in the description that this could mean a very early pick up and an extra hour of travel in the morning. On the way back the transfer took an hour and a half for what should’ve been no more than a 40 minute trip - if that was explained we would have just used a taxi. It put a really poor end to the day. I would recommend the trip but without the hotel transfer.
5Great
Great experience. Excellent guide and views.
5Fantastic way to see Butrint . Greet opportunity to visit Saranda
Great day out. Well organised and good value for money . The pick up from the hotel was on time, the buffet lunch was good and we had an informative guide
Corfu is a green Ionian island off north-west Greece, with a Venetian old town, olive groves, rocky coves and a taste of French and British history.
Corfu Town, on the east coast, is listed by UNESCO for its Venetian, French and British layers, with narrow lanes of tall pastel houses between two Venetian fortresses. The Liston arcade, modelled on a Parisian street, runs along the Spianada, a huge square where cricket is still played, and the old British palace there now holds a museum of Asian art. The tiny islet of Vlacherna and Pontikonisi, Mouse Island, sit off the airport runway.
Top-ranked sights in Corfu: Old Fortress (Palaio Frourio), Kanoni, Paleokastritsa.
