The trail not only offers jaw-dropping views of Kanchenjunga (8586 meters/28,169 feet), but also exposes trekkers to an array of wildlife, culture, and landscapes. Few trekkers brave this remote path where, at its highest point of Kanchenjunga North Base Camp (Pangpema), (5160 meters/16,929 feet), no life exists. Before reaching this extreme terrain, the adventure begins in the subtropical lowlands, characterized by rhododendron forests and peaceful villages. We are greeted with smiles from local Rai, Limbu, and other local ethnic groups. Learning about their lifestyle is, for some, more memorable than the alpine views. For adventure lovers who want to experience the Himalaya, but want to be away from the crowds of the Everest region, the Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek is perfect.
