About Alanya
Alanya is a resort on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, built around a rocky headland crowned by a Seljuk castle, with long beaches and caves below.
Alanya spreads across and around a rocky peninsula that juts into the Mediterranean, with the Taurus Mountains rising steeply behind. The castle that covers the headland dates mainly from the thirteenth century, when the Seljuk sultan Alaeddin Keykubad made the town a winter capital, and its walls run down to the harbour.
