Once you're ready, your Egyptologist guide will be waiting to escort you on your tour to the Hathor Temple in Dendera. This temple was one of the most important cult centers of the goddess Hathor, who was revered as the Goddess of Maternity, Joy, Music, and Love. The Greeks identified Hathor with their own goddess of love, Aphrodite. This temple is relatively new in comparison to other ancient Egyptian sites and was established during the Roman era. As such, you can expect to see Egyptian gods and Roman emperors depicted in its decorations. The temple is dedicated to the wife of god Horus, making it a fascinating piece of Egyptian mythology. One highlight of the temple is the beautiful ceiling, which features the Dendera Zodiac, including the signs of Libra the Balance and Taurus the Bull. It's a truly unique sight to behold. After this interesting visit, your guide will transport you back to your hotel or Nile cruise in Luxor.

About Louxor
Top-ranked sights in Louxor: Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut (at Deir el-Bahari), Colossi of Memnon.
