  2. Savoca is a country of a thousand attractions even if in reality it is a small village in the province of Messina with 1750 inhabitants. It is perched on the mountain but also offers a lot to tourists who visit it. It is bathed by the streams of Agrò and Savoca and is a town of art included in the circuit of "The most beautiful villages in Italy". In this village, scenes were shot "the Godfather", the successful film by Francis Ford Coppola, shot in 1972. A return to the past, to a town with few cars and little chaos, to the ancient buildings of the era in lava stone, surrounded by citrus groves, vineyards and olive groves. In the background the splendid Gulf of Taormina

About Catania

Catania, on Sicily's east coast, is a black lava-stone city beneath Mount Etna, with a noisy fish market, Baroque squares and a long seafront.

Catania lies at the foot of Mount Etna, the active volcano whose lava reached the city in 1669, and an earthquake in 1693 flattened it. Rebuilt in the eighteenth century in the Baroque style, it uses black lava stone for walls and paving, set against white limestone. The Piazza del Duomo has an elephant of lava stone carrying an obelisk, the cathedral of Sant'Agata, and a fountain.

Top-ranked sights in Catania: Piazza Duomo, Via Crociferi (Via dei Crociferi) , Gambino Winery (Vini Gambino).
