About Zaragoza

Zaragoza is the capital of Aragón, a Roman and Moorish city on the Ebro, with a vast Baroque basilica, a Moorish palace and a lively tapas quarter.

Zaragoza lies on the Ebro river in the Aragonese plain, between Madrid and Barcelona. The Roman colony Caesaraugusta, named for Augustus, left remains of a forum, baths and theatre. The Basílica del Pilar, a vast Baroque church with eleven domes and frescoes by Goya, rises on the riverbank beside La Seo cathedral, whose walls mix Mudéjar, Gothic and Baroque styles.

Top-ranked sights in Zaragoza: El Tubo, Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar (Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar).
