About Eleuthera
Eleuthera is a long, thin island in the Bahamas, with pink-sand beaches, pineapple farms, a narrow bridge between two seas and quiet settlements.
Eleuthera is a ribbon of land around 180 kilometres long but rarely more than a few kilometres wide, in the Out Islands of the Bahamas, with the Atlantic to the east and a calmer sea to the west. English settlers, the Eleutheran Adventurers, arrived in 1648 seeking religious freedom, and the island takes its name from the Greek word for freedom.
