The whitewashed, cubiform houses of its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia, cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera (crater). About Santorin

Santorin, arc de falaises volcaniques en mer Égée, où villages blancs et dômes bleus dominent une caldeira inondée et des couchers de soleil fameux.

L'île est le bord d'un ancien volcan dont l'éruption a laissé une vaste caldeira remplie par la mer. Sur son rebord, Fira, la ville principale, et les villages perchés d'Imerovigli et de Firostefani s'accrochent aux pentes, tandis qu'Oia, à la pointe nord, est célèbre pour ses couchers de soleil sur les moulins à vent et les maisons blanchies à la chaux.
