Accompanied by a specialized naturalist guide, you will discover a unique ecosystem that researchers consider a true natural laboratory teeming with extraordinary biodiversity. During the tour, your guide will share fascinating information about the cloud forest and help you spot iconic species—such as the Emerald Toucanet, the majestic Resplendent Quetzal, and, with any luck, spider monkeys—while you enjoy breathtaking views of the Monteverde mountains. About Monteverde
Monteverde is a mountain community in Costa Rica's cloud forest, known for misty reserves, hanging bridges, birdlife and coffee farms.
Monteverde is a scattering of farms and small villages on the Tilarán Mountains, around 1,400 metres up, where moist winds from the Caribbean wrap the ridge in cloud. Quaker families from the United States settled here in the 1950s and began dairy farming, and they helped protect the forest above. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve and the neighbouring Santa Elena Reserve preserve mossy trees, ferns, orchids and hanging vines.
Top-ranked sights in Monteverde: Curi-Cancha Reserve, Selvatura Park, Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve (Reserva Bosque Nuboso Santa Elena).
