The Mellah quarter, (Jewish quarter) is part of the fabric of the city, a liminal space for the Muslims inhabitants of the city. This was an exclusive area for the Jewish community, and in which Muslims were allowed to enter in the daytime but remained closed at night, a space in which Muslims came to pursue economic activities and pay reverence to the Muslim saints found in the area, an area that Muslims identify with as part of Marrakech. Yet, it was also a space that was “betwixt and between” because, it was not a Muslim area. The Mellah quarter of Marrakech is one of the biggest Jewish quarters of Morocco created by the Jews arrived from Spain and Portugal. These Jews, known in Hebrew as the Megorashim, or the exiles, changed the make-up of the Moroccan Jewish by introducing new customs.
Extraordinary well deserved 16th century Koranic school. (Entrance fees are not included) The delicate intricacy of Gibs (stucco plasterwork), carved cedar, and zellij (mosaic) on display in the central courtyard makes the building seem to loom taller than it really does, As many as 900 students from Muslim countries all over the world once studied here.
The Souk: Marrakech's marketplace and a wonder of arts, crafts, and workshops, Every step brings you face to face with the colorful handicrafts and bazaars for which Marrakech is famous.
At the centre of the Medina Jamaa el Fnaa is Marrakech's heartbeat. This L-shape square was once a meeting point for regional farmers and tradesmen; today it's surrounded by shops, mosques, and terraced cafes with perfect views over the action.

About Marrakech
Top-ranked sights in Marrakech: Atlas Mountains, Tizi-n'Tichka Pass, Jemaa el-Fna (Djemaa el-Fna).
