  1. River Antoine has been making rum the same way since 1785 — by hand, powered by a water wheel, with nothing but sugarcane, fire, and generations of tradition. This is not a polished distillery experience. It's the real thing, and that's exactly what makes it unforgettable. Your guide picks you up from your hotel or cruise port in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and takes a scenic route through the rolling Grenadian countryside before arriving at one of the Caribbean's most remarkable working distilleries. You'll witness the entire process — from the creak of the water wheel to the slow simmer of molasses — and finish with a tasting of the distillery's famous 69% and 75% rum (be warned: even the mildest bottle has a kick). Just 10 guests maximum. No rushing, no crowds — just an intimate, knowledgeable guide and a story that stretches back over 200 years.

About Grand Anse

Grand Anse is Grenada's best-known beach, a long curve of white sand on the south-west coast, with resorts behind and St George's nearby.

Grand Anse is both a bay and the resort district around it on the south-west coast of Grenada, the Spice Island. The beach runs for about three kilometres in a gentle curve of pale sand and calm water, with palms along the edge, and with hotels, beach bars and small shops behind. Sailboats ride at anchor offshore, and the sun sets over the Caribbean Sea in the evening.
