1. Free visit of Taormina where you can visit its elegant course that separates the medieval gates of the city, Porta Catania and Messina. You will be provided with a map containing all the information on the most important places to visit.

2. First Stage: Walking through ancient woods, eccentric craters and singular lava formations (usually the Sartorius Mountains or the craters formed in 2002 on the North-East side of Etna), our naturalistic guide will introduce you to the fascinating world of volcanic phenomena. Second stage: You will explore a cave of volcanic origin (for example the "Grotta dei Ladroni" or the "Grotta Cassone") equipped with the necessary equipment (helmets and torches). During the winter the visit to the cave is not carried out in the event of significant snowfall or ice at the entrance which would make entry dangerous. Third stage: If weather conditions permit, you will be able to make a typical Sicilian snack based on 'hot table'. Otherwise, lunch will take place indoors at a lovely mountain farm.

About Catania

Catania, on Sicily's east coast, is a black lava-stone city beneath Mount Etna, with a noisy fish market, Baroque squares and a long seafront.

Catania lies at the foot of Mount Etna, the active volcano whose lava reached the city in 1669, and an earthquake in 1693 flattened it. Rebuilt in the eighteenth century in the Baroque style, it uses black lava stone for walls and paving, set against white limestone. The Piazza del Duomo has an elephant of lava stone carrying an obelisk, the cathedral of Sant'Agata, and a fountain.
